Privacy policy
Last updated: November 1, 2026
RentDay ("the app", "we") is a Shopify app operated from Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what information the app collects when a merchant installs it, how it is used, and the choices available.
Information we collect
When you install RentDay we receive access to your store's data through the Shopify API, limited to the permissions you approve at install:
- Store information: store domain, timezone and currency.
- Products: titles, variants and prices of products you make rentable, and a configuration metafield we write to those products.
- Orders: for orders containing rental line items, the order number, line items, rental dates, and the customer's name and email address, so we can create the booking and send reminders.
We do not collect payment card details, passwords, or any data about customers who do not place rental orders.
How we use it
- To show you bookings, availability and a calendar.
- To price rentals and deposits at checkout.
- To send pick-up, return and overdue reminder emails to customers, if you enable reminders.
- To provide support when you contact us.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Sharing
Data is stored with our hosting provider and, for reminder emails, passed to our email delivery provider. Both act as processors under contract. We share data with no one else except as required by law.
Retention and deletion
When you uninstall RentDay, Shopify notifies us and we delete your store's data within 48 hours, in line with Shopify's mandatory compliance webhooks. Customer data requests and erasure requests received through Shopify are honoured automatically: personal details on bookings are removed while anonymised booking dates may be kept for inventory history.
Your customers' rights
Customers in the EU, UK, California and elsewhere can exercise their rights through the merchant, who can forward requests to us, or by emailing us directly. We respond within 30 days.
Security
Data is transmitted over TLS and stored in access-controlled databases. Shopify access tokens are stored encrypted at rest and are never shared.
Changes
We'll post updates to this page and note the date above. Material changes will be announced in the app.
